Meta just turned Messenger into a personal marketing channel.

As of a couple months ago, Meta opened up the ability for businesses to send personalized marketing DMs to anyone on an opted-in CRM contact list.

Previously - marketers using messenger for DMs could only message hundreds of people a day. With these new changes, marketers can send personalized messages to millions.


How this Works

Meta’s new flow is as follows:

  1. Businesses upload a CRM of opted-in customers

  2. Meta matches email & phone numbers from the CRM upload to Facebook accounts in Meta’s systems

  3. Meta then allows businesses to send marketing DMs to any matched Facebook account from that contact list. These messages can be personalized based on user data and preferences, allowing marketers to send unique messages to each customer to: (1)  improve marketing effectiveness, and (2) 1:1 target people with specific campaigns, items, and more

  4. Marketers can then use Meta’s built-in attribution tracking to tie each DM back to conversions, revenue, and ROI, right out of the box.

This means each message can leverage your own data – names, past purchases, preferences – to feel like a genuine one-on-one conversation. Across all of your customers at once.
